Hi guys, very sorry for the “a little” outdated post. I’m going to share about the fishing trip on 17th May. Dexter, Wayne, Zon and me met around 7.30a.m at Changi Village. Beside us, there were 4 other uncles (including Zon’s dad) fishing together with us. After a quick bite at Changi Village Hawker, we walked to the nearby ferry terminal. The uncles passed us some seasick pills and we gobbled them down, in case we experience seasick later on.
Ready to go!
One group photo before setting off
While waiting on the platform, Wayne drew out his trusty camera and started snapping away. Our boat came promptly after a few minutes. Within seconds we were on the boat, our first destination was a floating Kelong. We are not going there to fish, just to buy some live prawns as bait. After buying and loading the prawn into the bait well, the captain started the engine once again… vroom!
Great wall of Changi
the floating kelong!
Dex guarding the bait well :) "hmm who dare to steal my bait?"
About 10 minutes later, we reached our first fishing spot! When the boat stopped, it started to shake vigorously due to the strong current. As this is the first time we do boat fishing, we are not used to the shaking boat, for the first 10 minutes we don’t really dare to stand up, HAHAHA. After getting used to the shakiness, we drew out our arms (rods) and start to tie the fishing rigs. Compared to the experience uncles, we are like callow anglers, lots of time the fishes just steal our bait and swim off, ARGH! We are like feeding instead of fishing.
wa. waves so big
We became zero fighters for the whole morning while some of the uncles already started hooking up fishes. So we took a break at around 11.30a.m., we began to eat the food we packed from Changi Village for lunch. After lunch, I and Zon took a short nap on the deck under the flaring sun LOL! I was very tired as the previous night I slept only around 3 hours (too excited).

I woke up around 1pm and continued fishing . Our rig keep getting snapped and bait getting stolen, we were all very weary and worn out. After my rig snapped again, I just put down my rod and stone. I just felt God gently prompted in my heart “Are you going to stop?” Straight away I picked up my rod and hook on bait and start to fish again. Eventually I managed to get a fish before the end of the trip.
This gave me a sense of lonliness
After 3pm, everything starts to quiet down, no more bites. At 4pm, we decided to call it a day. The captain headed the boat back to the ferry terminal. In total we had about a 6 to 8 fishes for the day, I myself personally caught one :)
Overall it is a very fun and eye opening trip, definitely will go again if time and $$$ allow. Though the four of us caught only one fish, but we gained great time together. Okay, going to end this post with thousands of words! ENJOY:)
