Hi everyone! This is Liping here. This is the very first time I am sharing something, so forgive me if I say something wrong & pardon my English cause I am not very good in it.
It had been 6 weeks since I started school in Singapore poly as a freshman at a new environment. In these 6 weeks, I had been struggling with a lot of things, my studies as I had lots of reports to do. Besides that I have been struggling of being awake during lectures. I slept during my “Inorganic and organic chemistry”, “Micro-biology”, “Engineering math” and “Chemical balance”. Besides “micro-biology”, the others modules that I have slept during lesson, I can study myself.

It was during the 4th week that I decided that I can’t continue to be like that, so I prayed to God and said to Him that I want to have a breakthrough of not sleeping during micro-biology lessons. I prayed for a lot of times, and my prayer was answered on the 5th week, which is last week. It was at the end of the day of Tuesday that I realize that I did not fall asleep during my micro-biology lesson. I was so happy, but I was suspect that was just my luck. So I decided to wait till the 6th week, which is this week.

It was on yesterday that I really had a breakthrough, because last Thursday and yesterday I also had micro-biology lesson, and I realize that I did not fall asleep at all. Besides that, God let me found an interest into this module and not just that, I am able to understand everything the lecture teaches me. Even though I need time to understand everything what the lecture teaches me, but I believe that I can make the impossible possible.
Hahas I will be praying for more breakthrough in my life and I believe that God will gonna answer all my prayers!!!! JIA YOU JIA YOU JIA YOU!!!!!!

Hey yo everyone!! Im here to share about what the name Streetlights mean to our team!! Haha!! Hmm… so I believe everyone also knows what’s the meaning of streetlight (haha!! If dunno then must retake English!!), but nevertheless I still explain what is the meaning of streetlight. Streetlight means the lampposts that we are seeing beside the road, beside the pavement etc… but to God, streetlight has another meaning. Streetlight means that it is like a lamppost guiding us to our destination, which is God (of course!! XD). So….now comes our 2 main reasons why we are called Team Streetlights. The 1st reason is because: our team is just like “tour guides” guiding our friends towards the truth, which is Jesus. We are being evangelistic guides as we get to know more of our friends through basketball and we can meet their needs as we get to know them more as our motto says: Win people, not games. Why is this our motto?? Because we are using our basketball team as an evangelistic team so that we can bring more people to God and let them feel the love and glory of God just like how we ourselves felt the first time we went to church!
Now comes the 2nd reason... to say the truth, I only saw the 2nd reason just these few days when I got the sudden urge to watch Slam Dunk (which is a famous basketball animation series) and God showed me this 2nd reason. I was watching the part when the main team, Shohoku High School travels to Hiroshima for the Inter-High Competition for the first time, and their team was also just built up during that year, and the media graded them as D and commented on them that they might not even survive the 1st round as they entered the competition for the first time. But they proved the media wrong by knocking out their 1st round opponents which is an A graded Toyotama High School, and during the match, they were taunted upside down, they were being provoked by their opponents and even one of their players, Rukawa Kaede was injured due to an intentional foul by the opponent. But they never gave up, even Rukawa himself continued playing with a swollen eye(all those who played basketball will know how hard it is to shoot with an eye) and managed to get more points then what he got in the first half and they finally won their opponent 91-87 when they were losing in the first half.
Through this part, I actually felt what God wants me to see from there. Even though they are looked down upon, but they never gave up. They were even problem children when they just joined the team, always fighting against each other but imagined they played so well during the match that people cheered for them. Imagine a bunch of problem kids at the start can now work so well with each other that they produced a breathtaking performance after a few months! God is just telling us that we need to be determined to shape ourselves! Basketball teaches us discipline, team spirit, team co-operation and also determination. These are actually factors that we must have when we are in the outside world or even if we are walking with God! God is showing us that he is also shaping and moulding us as we are learning these few factors through basketball. God is just like our coach, coaching us the correct things and bringing us outside there to prove to the others that He can shape us, who have unpleasant pasts and mould us into a team which has strong bonds and brotherhood and going out there to win people’s hearts! I was really touched that God showed His love for us even when we are playing basketball, He is actually moulding us into better people and using us as His examples when we are going out to win people’s heart using Team Streetlights as our emblem! So let us continue to run together with him and win more people’s heart using ourselves as the light of the world and salt of the earth!! And people, let us open our hearts and let God mould us into vessels of love and spread the love in our friend’s life!!

HIHI GUYS,

I"M BACK!! Just wanna share something that impacted me, though it may seem insignificant at first.

Was in bus 106 today, heading towards City Hall MRT. The bus suddenly stopped...and all the cars were stucked in thier positions!! I guess everyone (i'm one of them) wondered what was happening then. The bus was nearing Plaza Sing when it met a massive jam there!! (oh no!)

At first i thought it was usual peak hour/condemn time...due to heavy traffic. But the bus stopped for about 15min.

So there i was, trying to take a peek at what's happening. But couldn't figure out still!!!

Have you been caught in a massice traffic jam when you're in a hurry??!! You knew that people were waiting for you...but there was absolutely nothing you can do to make the vehicle move!
That was how i felt...so helpless....wishing that the bus will eventually move....

AND FINALLY...after 15 min, the bus started moving at snail-speed. All the cars were competing for space as well...honking at one another! And just outside Istana, there were so many traffic police on motorcycles!! And there were a few traffic police blocking the road.

I guess it's clear...i think someone really really important is going into Istana lah!!!
So that was the cause of the massive jam.

And suddenly, at that unexpected moment, i heard a voice telling me...

"One day when you are finally coming home, I'll block the roads in heaven just for your entry..
that's how important you are...to Me..."

WOW. Felt so loved.

It didn't take me long to realize...it was God. =) I got all excited!!!!
and i started to imagine....the day when i eventually go back home to heaven:

angels blocking the road for me to enter....

streets of gold lined with the most beautiful plants (cause i love plants)....

everyone cheering for me, for finishing the race of life in victory...

Jesus waiting at the entrance...waiting to tell me "well done! Good and faithful servant!!"

"There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.”

Guys, God has prepared a place for us!!! Isn't that wonderful!!!

No matter what you go through in life, even though it may be tough, think about the home that God has prepared for you.

He has a place for you in heaven. =)

HAPPY 16th BIRTHDAY TO YI WEI

Hi guys! Just came back not long ago. Had a refreshing zone meeting with YiLun and the rest. Always looking forward to Tuesday nights!! There's always something God wants to do.

By the way, YiLun is going to Korea next Thurs!!! She's going to visit Dr Cho's church!! Woohoo! Believing that she'll bring back great impartation, and lots of life-changing experiences to share with us.

Was giving Liping bible study last Saturday...and we came across this verse...
Acts 4:13,"...they were uneducated and untrained men,...(but) they had been with Jesus."

Q: Who have YOU been with???

My ex-ex-ex-ex-ex leader told me something that changed my point of view.
"People are always in your life for a purpose; it's either for you to bring change into their lives, or for them to bring change into your life."

How true. Right? Think about it.... =)

I believe we need to have 3 types of people in our lives, at every season in our lives.

1) those we influence,
2) those who influence us,
3) those who lead us.

It's important to be an influencer, in whatever place we are placed in. Be it in school, at home, in camp, at work, etc. Who are you influencing today? Are we helping people around us? Are we making someone's life different, with our love and care?

The fact is, we will only grow when we step out and decided to be an influencer. Recognize that you can make a difference!!

And of course, we gotta have people who can influence us! BUT...we gotta be really selective in this. We can have many friends, but not all are true friendships. Not every freindship is from God....we need to know who are the people God has sent into our lives, to support us, to walk with us. Not every friend is committed to you. Spot friends who are committed to the friendship, and willing to love you for who you are, willing to help you move forward.

Friends are really important people in our lives. Someone once said this:
If you want to know what kind of person he is, just look at the friends around him.

Our close friends have the ability to shape our character, in amazing ways...sometimes in ways you don't even notice. Right?? So be very careful who you allow into your life to influence you.

Lastly, we need to have people who lead us - our leaders. Many people have this fear that if they draw too close to a leader, their dark secrets will be exposed. Or the leader will scold them for things they've done wrong. They are generally afraid to let the leader knows what they are thinking. But think about it...is it really necessary to do so???

If we really have dark secrets, one day, we'll be exposed. Just so happen that it's our leaders who are usually the ones who confront us...because of the special grace that God has givne to leaders, they somhow just know what's going on deep down in our hearts.

Can i please say this? Leaders are really...harmless people. Very often, our intentions are misunderstood; some people even mistaken us as being too fierce.

Put it this way, we're just strict, 'cause it's every leader's desire to bring the best out of whoever they lead.

If there's one person you can't afford to ignore...it is your leader. (i'm not saying this to promote anything). Leaders play special and important roles in our lives. When God wants to speak to us, usually He will speak through our leaders. And our destinies are tied to them. God placed them in our lives to lead us closer to our destiny.

But sad to say, a lot of people don't understand this fact. Well, fact of the matter is, leaders are the only people that can bring us up to another level. Without them, we'll never grow. Some people are in church for so long, but still didn't make progress. I believe it's very linked to the way they treat their leaders.

So what's the conclusion??

People are important in our lives, and we need to recognize their different roles.
Some are given by God to stay in our lives for a lifetime.
Others are only there in our lives for a season.

What a fantastic Sunday with the folks of W495!! We went to Mind's Cafe @ Princep Street,
Here's Liping and her 'blue crackers'!!We went on to play this vampire game, which we all thought was really quite fun!! Ok, it's amusing to see the vampire cards (see below). So cool!! Different types of vampires!! Red lady...botak black...the ice princess...blue monster...and many more!! Ok ok, the names are made up by me...just for fun!!

The aim of the game is to bury all your vampires!!!! Fastest person who completes win the game! It's like memory game...we even have 'garlic cards' to reserve a grave. Interesting...the vampires need to be arranged in sequence. Once you've arrange it in your desired sequence, you can't rearrange them anymore. So, gotta bury each vampire accordingly.

Ok, we actually need to open up these 'graves'. Under each grave there's a colour, and you have to remember exactly where are the colours!! So if the next vampire in your row of many vampires is red, then you need to open a grave that's red in colour, to 'bury' the red vampire. Fun thing is, you gotta close back the grave!! So if you are not careful...you may reopen any grave that has buried vampire...and you'll be forfeited!!! If you forfeited 3 times...HAHA...everyone will give you 1 vampire...which means you'll have MORE VAMPIRES TO BURY!!! Whahaha!!! GRAVES!!!
Chee yong and Teck Yong are just funny!!!! They too engrossed in eating...and they don't seem to remember the colours of the graves! So they ended up 'awaking' many buried vampires!!

Shimin and i were like too busy reserving graves with our garlic cards...and we forgot positions of the graves we reserved...HAH!! (like what??!!) Through out the game, Nicholas and Dan were the champions in getting rid of their train of vampires...partly thanks to Nicolas, who had fantastic memory!! Joel and Yang were a great team too...slow but steady...then suddenly we realized they GAME already!!! Liping and Mike almost won....but just when they were about to finish...hee...they disturbed a buried vampire!! Hee!! So more vampires followed them...

Well, over at the other table, all i can remember was that....they were the LOUDEST people in Mind's Cafe!!! Haha! I thought they going to bring the roof down!!! Oh my!! By snatching dog bones! But it was really fun i believe!!

These were just a few games we played...still many other games!!
CONCLUSION: Mind's Cafe....WE'LL BE BACK!!!!

Hihi guys!!

I was just pondering about something...

Really thinking about how can we shine in wherever we are planted in.
The fact is, we gotta learn to be leaders in society. We should have the ability to lead
to a certain extent. Cool? Agree? Ultimately, what can we change if we don't rise to a
position which allows us to lead? (thinking point)

We don't need to be named 'leader' in order to lead.
A leader is not defined by title; a leader is defined by his character.

Once upon a time, there was a man full of vision. He gave hopeless people a cause to live for;
he was a role model for the fatherless, was focus in uniting his people, has a great vision of bringing them into prosperity. His personality and charisma won the hearts of his people.

Sounds like a good leader? Hrm...i'm talking about Hitler... LOL!!

Interestingly, in my views, Hitler was indeed a great leader. He had most of the atributes which makes a great leader. He was bold, courageous, focus, ambitious, full of vision, tactical, etc. But the only thing that went wrong was his moral values...

There was no justice, no compassion, no love, no integrity, no sincerity, no honestly/openness.
Only agression and lots of forceful actions and violent acts.

Amazingly, despite his insane beliefs, he was able to move the hearts of multitudes with his persuasive speeches. People actually believed in his ideas. His men were willing to die for him..
oh my gosh!!! (like what??!!). Youths were willing to sacrifice for him...get train and fight in the war for him.

What's the learning point?
Question: What can you offer?

What do i mean?

People followed Hitler, 'cause he offered them a dream.
He offered them hope.
He offered them security.

Friends, the world is looking for great leaders. Especially in our world today, where there seems to be a crisis in leadership...where corruption and injustice is too common.

There's never a lack of leaders....just who will be the next. Either good or bad leaders. =)

Why am i sharing this?

I believe it's time to arise and let our light shine.
One day we will step into society to work. Are we going to allow the world's system to lead us,
or we influence the world's system?

Who are the people with right moral values? YOU!! It's US!!
If we don't arise and take the leading role, we will be lead by the world.

Back to my question...WHat can you offer?

Can you be like Jesus?
Can you offer people around you a vision?
Can you inspire a dream?
Do you have courage to stand in a time of crisis?

You don't have to be named a 'leader' to take the lead.
If you can offer people around you a vision, a dream, hope...
if you have courage, integrity, compassion...people will follow you.

Because...that's what the world is looking for.

So...what do you have in you, that makes others want to follow you? =)

We need to have a burning desire to impart good moral values into our society.
If we don't lead...others will. There's no lack of influence...either positive or negative.

We need to realise that we have the power to transform society for the good.

They asked the fig tree to lead them, but it didn't want to as well.
They approached the vine, but failed in their attempt.
They have no choice but to ask the bramble (thorns) to lead them.

Hi Hi guys!!

On this spot where my own shadow was casted...once stood a tall tree about 8m in height!
Well, but as you can see, it's been leveled.

I only manage to find the remnants of the tree which was removed!! HOW SAD!!!?? Oh...my beloved tree!!!

So, what's the lesson learnt?

*Balance is the key to life* (what an old saying...but totally real)

After much analysis, i think i can safely conclude that the tree split due to strong wind. It was the first tree in a entire row of trees, to be exposed to wind. It probably absorbed most of the wind's impact.

But the failing point was this: it was too heavy on the other side

When a tree is not balance in the distribution of it's weight, it'll have higher tendency to fail. So regular pruning must be done to ensure even weight distribution.

Sometimes, God needs to 'prune', 'cut', or 'remove' certain things in our life, which may be weighing us down, stopping us from progressing. It's painful...but necessary, so that we can walk right, walk in proper balance.

If God does not remove some of these things in our life, one day we'll come to a point of failure.
God is good,; He knows what He is doing in our lives.

So, let's allow God to deal with us, help us live a balance life. Yes??
