People in our Lives

Hi guys! Just came back not long ago. Had a refreshing zone meeting with YiLun and the rest. Always looking forward to Tuesday nights!! There's always something God wants to do.
By the way, YiLun is going to Korea next Thurs!!! She's going to visit Dr Cho's church!! Woohoo! Believing that she'll bring back great impartation, and lots of life-changing experiences to share with us.
Was giving Liping bible study last Saturday...and we came across this verse...
Acts 4:13,"...they were uneducated and untrained men,...(but) they had been with Jesus."
Q: Who have YOU been with???
My ex-ex-ex-ex-ex leader told me something that changed my point of view.
"People are always in your life for a purpose; it's either for you to bring change into their lives, or for them to bring change into your life."
How true. Right? Think about it.... =)
I believe we need to have 3 types of people in our lives, at every season in our lives.
1) those we influence,
2) those who influence us,
3) those who lead us.
It's important to be an influencer, in whatever place we are placed in. Be it in school, at home, in camp, at work, etc. Who are you influencing today? Are we helping people around us? Are we making someone's life different, with our love and care?
The fact is, we will only grow when we step out and decided to be an influencer. Recognize that you can make a difference!!
And of course, we gotta have people who can influence us! BUT...we gotta be really selective in this. We can have many friends, but not all are true friendships. Not every freindship is from God....we need to know who are the people God has sent into our lives, to support us, to walk with us. Not every friend is committed to you. Spot friends who are committed to the friendship, and willing to love you for who you are, willing to help you move forward.
Friends are really important people in our lives. Someone once said this:
If you want to know what kind of person he is, just look at the friends around him.
Our close friends have the ability to shape our character, in amazing ways...sometimes in ways you don't even notice. Right?? So be very careful who you allow into your life to influence you.
Lastly, we need to have people who lead us - our leaders. Many people have this fear that if they draw too close to a leader, their dark secrets will be exposed. Or the leader will scold them for things they've done wrong. They are generally afraid to let the leader knows what they are thinking. But think about it...is it really necessary to do so???
If we really have dark secrets, one day, we'll be exposed. Just so happen that it's our leaders who are usually the ones who confront us...because of the special grace that God has givne to leaders, they somhow just know what's going on deep down in our hearts.
Can i please say this? Leaders are really...harmless people. Very often, our intentions are misunderstood; some people even mistaken us as being too fierce.
Put it this way, we're just strict, 'cause it's every leader's desire to bring the best out of whoever they lead.
If there's one person you can't afford to ignore...it is your leader. (i'm not saying this to promote anything). Leaders play special and important roles in our lives. When God wants to speak to us, usually He will speak through our leaders. And our destinies are tied to them. God placed them in our lives to lead us closer to our destiny.
But sad to say, a lot of people don't understand this fact. Well, fact of the matter is, leaders are the only people that can bring us up to another level. Without them, we'll never grow. Some people are in church for so long, but still didn't make progress. I believe it's very linked to the way they treat their leaders.
So what's the conclusion??
People are important in our lives, and we need to recognize their different roles.
Some are given by God to stay in our lives for a lifetime.
Others are only there in our lives for a season.
